Her mission is to provide a platform of visibility, preservation, advancement, and empowerment of dance and arts cultures, with focus on underground and underrepresented styles through producing creative, promotional, and branding video content.
Dance remains a lifelong passion as Kanica continues to expand her capabilities as a visual story teller, exploring all types of people, art and life. She believes that telling our stories is vital to understanding and empowering ourselves as individuals and thereby a society. A reformed shy girl and self proclaimed underdog, she understands the value of visibility and creating avenues for others to find their tools of liberation and self expression. Whether it is through art, business or simply a way of life, the goal is to tell our story the best we can.
Kanica started 2011 in the Tampa Bay area producing music videos for local, emerging artists including Polyenso (Top 16 Bands to Watch, Alternative Press). She spent time as a documentarian in St. Pete's alternative warehouse scene for music and art venues such as Venture Compoud and Fuzz Factory. Kanica then accepted a role as the Director of Production for Ovations Global Network.
She has produced content for LGBTQ+ safe space project, What the Punk including promotions for 15 LBGTQ+ internationally acclaimed artists and performers as well as documentation of Florida's first and only international gay urban dance festival, What the Punk Fest. Fun fact, she came up with the festival's name! As reflected in her portfolio, a call to serve dance and the arts was always nearby. She is Videographer and Co-Producer to South Florida's Drum and Dance Folklore Series, a free traditional drum and dance workshop featuring Folkloric Masters from Cuba, Mali, Senegal, Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and Haiti.
The term "House of" was inspired by its use in gay ballroom culture and iconic fashion houses in runway. She believes in a good cookout, window seats, that outfit you're nervous about, keeping nature close and that sometimes all it takes is a night on the dance floor to live your truth.
Welcome to the House of Kans
